Massachusetts Hospital School Foundation

Summer Day PROGRAM
Overview
Summertime brings a host of new challenges for children with disabilities. Very few communities have either the facilities or expertise to offer recreational and educational programs that are both suitable and stimulating for these children during summer vacation. Fortunately, The Massachusetts Hospital School, in conjunction with Easter Seals provides an ambitious curriculum geared towards building upon an individual’s growth and accomplishments made during the school year.

Our goal is simple. At the end of the Summer Day Program we want all our students to understand that: they are just like every other child. Disabilities do not make a difference. Activity-by-activity; day-by-day; we strive to send them home tired, dirty, and happy.
Specific goals of this Integrated Summer Day Program are:
- Adapted Aquatics
- Creative Arts
- Academic Support
- Outdoor Adventures
- Music and Drama
- Sports
- Boating & Water Sports
- Life Skills
- Community Mobility Trips
- Therapeutic Horseback Riding and Animal Care
Each child will gain an understanding of the skills and abilities of the other children.
Reinforce specific skills that will assist in a smooth transition back to school in the new school year.
