Words of Gratitude: Andrea J. Lynn and Family

Massachusetts Hospital School (MHS) enjoys hearing from our students, their family and our friends, especially regarding their experience at MHS. We would like to share a recent letter we received from Andrea Lynn’s family. Andrea is a 2010 commenced patient of MHS.

Dear Trustees,

With this thank you come lots of feelings, both happy and sad.  We are happy that Andrea made it this far, has many comforting memories and has met many dear and wonderful caring people. However, we are sad because it has come to an end. It is the end part that is difficult because there is no other program that compares to Massachusetts Hospital School.

Andrea started her school life at the Early Beginnings Center and was put on a waiting list for Massachusetts Hospital School. She had to attend Boston College Campus School for a year and a half while waiting for an opening. She has been a student at MHS for the last eleven years.

We appreciate the last eleven years. We hope that sometime in the future there would be a Day Program for individuals over the age of twenty-two years old. Massachusetts Hospital School Campus is the perfect place for one. I can not think of anything better than to be able to transition students turning twenty-two to a program right on campus.

We thank you all for all your time and effort in keeping MHS running. It really shows in all that passes through its doors.  We will miss you but will be back to visit. We would like to donate money towards, 100th commencement, the class of 2011. Thank you again for everything that you do for all of us.

Sincerely,

Andrea, Susan and Walter Lynn
