Thomas F. Norton, Chairman of the Board
Thomas Norton is the President and Founder of Norel Service Company and Campus BuildingReports, both of Waltham, Massachusetts. He holds an Associate Degree in Fire Science Engineering.
Norton is a licensed Master Electrician, and licensed Sprinkler Contractor. As the Chairman on the Board of Trustees at MHS, Norton additionally is active in in NFPA Committees, a member of the Center for Campus Fire Safety Codes and Standards Committee, past Chairman of the Automatic Fire Alarm Association, and Lieutenant Commander, U.S. Navy Civil Engineer Corps – Reserves.
Tom Martin
Tom Martin founded Cramer Productions, a unique, full-service digital marketing and events solutions agency, combining strategic marketing, creative and production services under one roof. In addition to supporting MHS, he is a major contributor and adviser to the Caritas Christi Hospital, Action for Boston Community Development (ABCD) and the Ouimet Foundation.
Martin is a devoted family man. He and his wife June celebrated forty-seven years of marriage in 2009 with their six sons, one daughter and 20 grandchildren.
Richard J. Meelia
Richard J. Meelia is Chairman, President, Chief Executive Officer and a Director of Covidien plc, a leading $10 billion global healthcare products company. The business, formerly known as Tyco Healthcare. He is a graduate of Saint Anselm College and earned an MBA degree from Boston College.
In addition to serving on the MHS Board of Trustrees, Meelia is Chairman of the Board of Directors of Employ Ability, Inc., a career empowerment network for people with disabilities, and is a member of the Board of Directors of Chernobyl Children Project, Inc. He serves on the Board of Governors of the Tufts-New England Medical Center.
Jude O’Hara
Jude O’Hara is not only a Parent of MHS patient, but an advocate and consumer of the special needs population. She is also a current Board member of The Michael Carter Lisnow Respite Center in Hopkington, MA, Vice Chairman of Commission on Disability for the Town of Westwood, involved with the Family Advisory Council of Norfolk County, and a long time former employee of the Department of Mental Retardation and special education teacher.
O’Hara currently resides in Westwood with her husband, Steven, and two sons, Steven and TJ.
Yvonne A. Shelton, MD
Dr. Shelton is a Pediatric Orthopedist at the Umass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester, MA. Dr Shelton has been involved with the Massachusetts Hospital School for almost 20 years through her association with Dr. Arthur Pappas and Dr. Carl Akins. Dr. Shelton graduated from Princeton University and George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences. Children and adolescents are a special interest of Dr. Shelton; she runs the multi disciplinary specialty clinics for patients with Cerebral Palsy, Myelomeningocele, and Muscular Dystrophy at Umass Memorial Medical Center. Dr. Shelton welcomes the opportunity to be more involved with the Hospital School as it searches for a new role in providing health care and educational resources to special needs children and their families.
